Y aquí estoy ansiosa, mientras mi dios calienta mi rostro, mi madre besa mi
sol no dijo nada solo brilló y brilló, calló y calló.

MOUNTAIN RAIN
I am the fortunate one, chosen by the Sun. I smell the aroma of my
hair intertwined with stems of fresh flowers. From within my mother's womb my
grandmother's songs prepared me for this great day. They say that the day
chosen for my departure to the Sun is the most important in many moons. The
arrival of imposing men called knights is the reason for great jubilation, it
is a good omen. Although our capricious gods may think otherwise, which makes
my departure even more important. That is why my fate brings joy and deep emotion.
I offer myself eager, my cheeks blush, my veins boil, my voice sings.
Everything for my god the Sun, which illuminates my days, my dreams,
my hopes, even my last breath I dedicate to him. The kiss I will never give,
the children I will not get to swaddle, the wise old age that I will never
reach. With a smile on my lips I will go knowing that my people will live
forever in abundance and in fertile soil. We are the chosen and privileged, we
are the children of the Sun. I, one of the few princesses will live forever and
from my throne I will send my people rains of love that will fill with fresh
flowers the gardens I recently visited. Not in vain will I spill the red within,
because from these stones it will begin its journey until filling all the empty
corners that lie in the hearts of the hopeless ones. And here I await, anxious,
while my god warms my face, my mother kisses my forehead and I see the pride in
the eyes of my father reflected in me.
I remember I was scared only once when a girl in her innocence asked
me if I kept in my mind a small piece of resentment for not having the rest of
life ahead of me. And for a second my heart skipped, and I resented the little
impertinent one. While she was being scolded by her mother, I told her that
there was no life ahead that could compare to the magnitude of my love for god
and my offer to give life to my people. And now that I am face to face with
death I felt that moment of fear creeping inside my skin and I asked my father
Sun to fill that doubt, I thought was long forgotten, with his light. My god
with his characteristic mercy did so, the darkness left my mind and I
understood my destiny.
I dropped my weight on the shoulders of these stones, now tinted with the
same hope that slowly flows from me. The last moments were short, although I must
admit I felt pain. Then the path of love and abundance that led me to infinity
opened up to me. I floated away to my Sun, filled with its light, I saw my
people and felt the heart of each one as if suddenly their beating was a single
one. And as I basked with them, I felt the song of their desires and love. But
when you wander you see a lot and you also feel the true song of humankind.
When the notes are not in chord they hurt the breathing of the soul. Suddenly I
saw the mysterious knights thirsting for gold and in a second I could see the
sad destiny of my Empire. I asked my Sun god if my death had been in vain since
I failed to purify the future of my own, nor did I helped them emerge in
abundance. The sun did not reply, it just shone and fell into deep silence. And
I did not stop crying and crying betrayed by his indifference. My soul felt the
pain in the hearts of each of my kind, eternally impregnated in me. And so they
say my tears still run through the same mountains, valleys and lands I once
roamed.
